Gardening Classes in 2008
Chelan County Master Gardeners teach classes through the Wenatchee Valley College Continuing Education department. Come join us and fellow gardeners to sharpen your gardening techniques and develop a beautiful garden.
Classes run September 18 to November 2, 2008 and meet Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Most of them are held in Room 8042, Batjer Hall on the Wenatchee Valley College campus in Wenatchee, WA.
- From Fall to Spring in the Vegetable Garden
While still reaping the bounty of this year’s garden, you can begin to chart a course for more successful vegetable gardening next year. Topics include mulching garden clean-up, what to compost, sowing a cover crop, seed selection, succession cropping, and mapping and journaling your garden to help with planning for next year. Class cost includes “A Master Gardener’s Perpetual Almanac” and a garden journal. Class cost $49.

Instructor: Ken Lacy - Understanding Color Theory for the Garden
Learn how to combine plants and other garden components for a great design from experienced residential and ocmmercial interior and garden designer Susan Wilcox. This is a great class for those working on a new landscape design or trying to add pizzazz to an old landscape. Class cost $29.

Instructor: Susan Wilcox - Holiday Plants in the Home
Learn about culture and care for favorite holiday plants like poinsettia, rosemary, Christmas cactus and amaryllis. What makes them bloom and how can you enjoy them year after year? Class cost includes a specially selected jumbo amaryllis bulb for students to plant and take with them. Class cost $49

Instructors: Gloria Kupferman and Mary Fran McClure - The Harvest Table Centerpiece
Learn the basics of floral centerpiece design including dimension, container selection and plant material placement. Find out what to use from your own garden, what you can use from the vegetable department, and how to purchase flowers. Course fee includes material to make a small centerpiece that you will take home. Class cost $59.
